My Defining Photo

The ' White Tiger ' is what I call this one. It sat in my Model Mayhem port for weeks with 107 views yet no one commented on it.

Model Julia who's Russian btw had no clue as to how I feel about animal print clothes. I didn't mention it to her either and in case you don't know what I mean well, I hate animal print clothes.

Julia shows me her outfits and then YIKES she pulls out that animal shirt and I was like gasp no way. I kept my mouth closed and went with the flow. So she's putting on the shirt and I'm panicking inside. What to do what to do you know what I mean?

Within seconds I notice her bad ass red nails and thought yes we have something here. And there it is in living color.

I took those red nail feature of hers and asked her to pose like the way she's posing in the picture. The bold red nails look even more wilder than her tiger -not zebra- stripe shirt. Though they sure do compliment each other. I was loving every minute of it too! Haha.

What's ironic is that what I hate most outfit wise has been my number one defining photo. It reflects and defines me 100%. It's who I am as a photographer. It's odd, it has no explanation, it has a backyard elegance to it. And it reminds me of Helmut Newton's work.

No I'm no where close to being as great as he yet he took an approach with his photography that stood out amongst other's. That is how I want to be looked at as well. This photo defines me as being who I am -odd-crazy-bold- thinking in my own way. THIS folks is my defining photo of my work, it's actually my number 1 favorite to this day.

Thank you Julia for that wild shoot!
