To Give is a Blessing

Lorena

On April 26th Shelby, Bobbie, Suzette and I went on our 1st homeless people make over. We went to downtown San Diego nervous and uncertain of what we were about to face. We saw Lorena sitting alone on the corner of a street and approached her. Lorena let us into her 'living room' and was all smiles, so were we! We'll be doing more of this again and very soon and as frequent as possible.

If anyone would like to join us next time we do this please email me at david@3zeros.com. Please
include the word 'Homeless' on the subject line. Thank you!

We'll be dedicating as much time as we can in June.

Ashley's Pre Shoot Jitters

Make up by Shrae

Back in March I had a shoot with the luvilly Ashley. She was awesome enough to drive from LA to SD to shoot '
with me. How awesome is that! Before our shoot day we sent a ton of messages back and forth, with ideas etc.

After our shoot I got this from her . . .

"I was hoping there was an earthquake, a tsunami, anything to get me out of going because I was so scared,
but once we hit the hallway I was fine. =D hahahaha! I'll be glad I pushed myself to do it when it's over."

Splish Splash

So we start our shoot here. Well no because we took a few shots at the hotel hallway, down the stairway and
around the pool first. Then when she sat here it was like, the shoot is on now!

She did the coolest thing by splishing and splashing her feet in the pool. I couldn't resist taking these
shots plus she knew that I wanted to incorporate some foot shots in the mix of our shoot. And she
did not disappoint!

A Cute Tease
(Not Trashy)

So a few days ago I get a message from Ashley to edit this pic for her. She's asking me what I think
about the undie shot and I'm like I don't think it looks bad at all. I used to collect pin up calendars
and art and loved it when there was a little teasing going on.

What a sweet shoot that was!

Don't Stop Just Keep Walking

No More Magazines!

Last Sunday while walking to my shoot I saw a row of magazines on the sidewalk. I stopped and went over
to look at some of the magazines and within a minute picked up a Vogue magazine for inspiration then
went on to my shoot.

The thing about this whole magazine ordeal is that in my apt lives a wifey who hates magazines. I have maybe 50 vintage fashion magazines of L.A. Style and she hates them with a passion. I love them of course. If I
bring home a magazine she gets angry and that's why I tittled this one, 'Don't stop just keep walking'

But did I keep walking?

No I stopped like I'm not supposed to do who cares to admire the photography inside a Vogue magazine.
Took the one I was looking at and went on to my shoot. Later on in the day James and I go to a new shoot
location though before we get there we stop to pick up a few of these magazines. As I type there's like
5 issues outside my front door haha. Call me chicken if you want, maybe I am tho the last thing I want
is an argument. I won't stop looking at fashion magazines and I'll stop to look everytime.

A Touch of Glass

Glass Wall

I love this building. I don't know the name of it and I don't know when it was built exactly
though
I believe it was put there in the 1980's.
I believe it's purpose lyes within the medical field.
This
building is a work of art. It stands three stories high and it's a 10 minute walk from my
apartment.

I love this design obviously because of it's bold glass tile which stretches from the
ground to the
roof top.
Although it wouldn't look that dramatic without that square wall with that one window
engraved in it.
The entry doors are all
glass
and curvaceous just like the wall of glass.

Looking UP

As I got closer to this glorious glass wall I began to really appreciate the beauty of the
design and workmanship. Yet I had to wonder how will it fair with an earthquake. This is
one of the reasons why I took these photos for just in case one day it came tumbling down.
Then I thought wait we've had many earthquakes since the 1980s and it's still standing.
On the 4th of April 2010 we had that 7.1 quake and it lasted almost 20 seconds and look

She's still standing!

Standing TALL

This view depicts that curve and it's futuristic design. Sitting right between homes that were
built in the 1940's. A future location for me to shoot at that's for sure!

A Glass of Water

The closer you get to this wall the better it looks. You can tell that there was a lot of thought
put into this design. And who ever it was that designed this amazing work of architectural
art has a lot of style, class and a real appreciation and love for glass wall tiles.

I applaud you who ever you are!

The Story BEYOND THE STILL

The box, The bear and the key

Oh man Canon is having a film maker's contest and I'm so bummed out
because I don't own an HDR. And because it's already April and my film
project is still in the writing stage.

Anyways the 'Beyond the Still' contest is pretty cool. Film maker's are
required to apply 3 key elements to their story/entry.The box, the bear
and the key. What is also cool about this contest is that they have an
option -or is it the rule- to create a film that continues on from chapter
one or somewhere in the middle. I'm still somewhat confused about it
but i think it's a collaboration of work between everyone's films.

I saw like 10 entries and liked a lot of them. Though I saw maybe 30
seconds of each. They're all about 2-4 minutes long. There was one
that I thought was cool because it's a SILENT FILM. Not too many
of these around anymore. And I think it's the only silent film entry.

Check it out . . .

The Next one I saw is called

THE MUSIC BOX

Cool cinematography and music, story is alright too.

Check it out . . .

There's like over 100 film entries.

Oh wow I want my HDR ASAP!

Street Photography

running - walking

alone - together

what - attitude
.

Total Randomness

The cool thing about street photography for me is
having the opportunity
to capture random things and people
without any thought what so ever.
It's all about feeling the surroundings I'm in
and
not giving in to anything or anyone.
These photos were taken while we were looking around
for a cool location to shoot at.
I'll post more pics of random people
who were there
. . .
around us.

Disrespecting the Place

"I sahree, no allow photo here" -employee

Yesterday Nica and I went to downtown San Diego to shoot.
So we're out looking for urban ghetto spots to get our
shots and found some potential places like this wig shop.

No Dice.

We keep walking and shooting . . .

Do Not Trespass

Taking pics along the way we find a big painted metal box and take some shots
using it as a backdrop. The box opened by accident with all these city owned
wires in it. I tried to close it though the door wouldn't shut. Nica's laughing
and telling me let's go!

So we walk some more until Nica finds this place. Nica's like oh check this place out!
There were like hundreds of old school chairs everywhere. Another potential shoot
location we both wanted to 'disrespect' haha.

We didn't see any "Do Not Trespass"signs anywhere, so we jumped the fence. She
goes first then I. As soon as I'm on the ground an alarm -across the street- goes off haha
I asked Nica, "is that alarm for us us?" I'm thinking wait is there a silent alarm idk.
Nica's like, "no man I think that's a car alarm" Alright I'm cool with that answer
haha.

And so we begin our shoot with ALL these great and inspiring chair props.

Until . . .

We Get Busted

Well not totally busted. Nica's doing her thing and I see 3 -MY NUMBER- SD police cars pull outside
the gate. I'm like, "Nica look" She turns around, we're both trippin and I'm like, "we're gonna get a
ticket" 3 Cops come through the locked gate. The first cop, Officer Green asked us what the
shoot was for. Nica and I tell them it's for her music CD.

The cool Green man haha asked Nica to sing, she's like not now. Officer Zizzo is one of those big
husky New jersey type cops. He has this mad bull dog face and looked ready to jerk us around.
Was I ever wrong.

Officer Porter is right next to this Zizzo guy and they're both messin with Nica asking her to sing.
They were easy going -we joked some- and even offered to help out. They were like, "do your thing
guys" So we shoot some more and got what we wanted from the place.

Porter was like, "are you sure you got the shots you wanted" I'm like, "yeah we're good with what
we got. Porter answers back with, "you must take perfect shots every time" - I took that as shoot some more.

"We got a few good ones" -me

Anyways I want to say thank you to those 3 officer's for being very cool and patient with us.

"THANK YOU!"
