Do You Flip?

I'm Flipping Out!

This past Sunday morning I stumbled into the world of flip video . . .

It happened without warning!

I just love Sunday mornings, anyways I made plans to do some shopping
at Target so what do I do? I go to their site to 'flip' through their
online virtual 10 page ad thingamajig.

So I'm flipping through the pages until I see THIS!

Intriguing because I want one to film my short film '7Th Angel', I have
to finish writing it tho :) This thing got my attention because it's HD
and it's priced decently and it's easy to use and I like easy.

So I walk to Target to do my shopping tho not until I see the Flip Cam
1st hand. As looks go I was sort of disappointed tho I understand how
critical I can be a lot of the time. Tho I did like its simplicity.

So I'm looking at it, curious as ever while trying to get it to work,
not working. The sales girl comes up and asks me if I need any help.
I said yeah can you get this to work and she said well I'm not sure
if we have anything to activate it with, she looked around I guess.

I asked her if she knew anything about the flip video and she nodded
her head side to side, lame but expected from a retail store.

I googled this flip video thing and found THIS!

And the more I saw and read about it the more I WANT TO FLIP!

Liz's Random Shoot

LIZ

We always do random shoots together. And with Liz it sort of fits her
random like personality. So she calls me last Friday and she's like,
hey what's up?

She's cool and someone I can talk to about stuff tho in the back of my
mind I'm also relating her calls to us doing a shoot which is totally
cool with me.

We decided to hang out and of course bring the camera. She mentions well
since you're bringing that I'll make myself look cute then. We meet up
at the library then walked around the neighborhood.

Then I see the yellow VW parked and I'm like, Liz, let's get some shots
here! A cute bug and a cute girl, yeah I thought it was sweet looking.

After that we walk over to the alley way where I've shot at a lot. We got
some cool street hood girl shots I guess. We're both a little hungry after
getting a bunch of shots. And so we left to get some grub.

There's the Farmer's Market!
We got some yummy and interesting looking food. How could I have NOT
taken a picture of that swirly potato stick thing with Liz! Ahh!!

We most definitely had fun . . .

Bikini Friday

JACKIE

On Friday May 7th I had two photo shoots. The first one with Jackie which was scheduled at 8am
and the second one with Nicole at 11am. The two shoots were a bikini theme. Jackie's shoot in
downtown and Nicole's at a hotel swimming pool around Mission Beach. We made it to one
of my favorite pre shoot prep spots and hotel for Jackie's shoot and somewhere between 2
house's in a richie upscale location near downtown for Nicole's shoot.

I forgot to mention that these two shoots were my very first bikini shoots ever and that's
why I called this one 'Bikini Friday' For the past 2 years I've tried to get model's to do a beach/
bikini shoot with me and zero luck. I hope to do a couple more before Summer ends.

NICOLE

I really love shooting with Nicole.

We get to shoot maybe once a month and when we do it's always a relaxed and chill shoot.
I don't see her working with very many photographer's tho for my sake I'm glad I get to
shoot with her. To me she's one of those hidden jewel model's that is actually a challenge
for me to shoot with. It seems from our past shoots that I'm always missing that one cool
shot of her. Or the angle isn't right or some other reason that makes me feel like I could
have done a better job.

GIRL NEXT DOOR

The bikini shoot we did together was to me our best shoot to date. I think I captured her
uniqueness nicely and brought out the 'Girl Next Door' look in some of the photos. The one
with her hair halfway over her face brings out -IMO- the seductive and alluring side of her.

What an awesome Bikini Friday May 7th was. Thank you Jackie and Nicole and thank you
Kristina for the nice make up and hair job on Jackie. Your time and hard work is truly
appreciated. I was a little bummed tho because Jackie didn't have that UP ponytail like
hair style I had envisioned.

It was definitely fun. I hope to do more bikini shoots before Summer is over. A high fashion
bikini look with a HAIR STYLE like this!

A Silent Voice - LISTEN?

END WAR

A couple of things I want to share with you.

One is about this guy Wayne and the 2nd is about my trolley -coming home- experience from yesterdays 2 shoots.

1

I see people like Wayne almost every day and I don't even have a car. Tho I do ride the trolley and I visit
downtown San Diego more frequently. So I guess that explains why I see them around a lot.

Anyways I started to think about taking portraits of these people and ask them what one message they
would like to share with the world. Wayne gave me two words, "End War" I asked him if he was a veteran and
he said "No" I was definitely surprised about that.

2

Yesterday I was riding the trolley home from downtown San Diego. I'm sitting there alone with my camera
on my lap after taking random out the window pictures. Soon after a couple walks in and they sit right in
front of me.

She was an African American in her 50s. She was neatly dressed in a black long dress and black jacket.
You can tell, well from my observation, that she was doing her best to present herself nicely. Her hair
was like Buck Wheat from the Little Rascals, combed up and yes it was the first thing I noticed.

The guy she was with looked extremely tired, exhausted and his face was very weathered like with his
right eye shut from what looked like total exhaustion and thirst. Yea the first thing I thought to myself
was, "He looks so thirsty" He wore a cool V neck white sweater with college like colors around the
trim parts. It reminded me of this one sweater I had -and loved- when I was a kid. I wore it in a family
portrait once. Anyways it sure was dirty especially around the shoulder area.

Even though it was dirty I liked the sweater a lot and was like wow that's one cool sweater, then I was
like I want one like that. So minutes go by and the trolley noise is buzzing all around us while I'm
staring at these two who in an odd way reminded me of my childhood haha.

She looks at my camera and then looks up at me and then says very quickly and boldly . . .
"Do you have $20?" I said "No" with a broken heart and then asked her to forgive me. I had no money
in my pocket and I had maybe $5 in my bank account. I looked up to the sky and said, "Lord
if I had $20 you know I would take them to eat somewhere and help them out"

I understand why God does what he does and what he has taken away from my bank account is what he
has deposited into my heart. Within a minute the trolley stops and I get up to leave. I prayed for them as I walked home.

I came home tired and hungry and was like wow what an interesting day out there. Then I turn around
and within 5 minutes after walking into my apt I get 2 sales from my therapeutic pillow business.
That was $600 right there. Thank you GOD! And thank you honey for making me smile!

:)

Shelby's 1ST Photo Shoot

My Photo Shoot with Shelby was one I thought would never occur.

She does hair, she does make up, she did make up for the homeless make over tho
she does not do modeling. Well she does now though it took some convincing from
my part to get her to go for it.

We set our shoot for May 6th and here's just a few pics from our first shoot
together. You make an awesome model!
Thank you for that fun and very chill shoot.

And thank you to Nikki for handling that wacky light reflector the way you did.
You have some serious lighting skills.

Momma Mia! Pizze Ria!

Ciros Pizzeria

Ahh did I just have authentic New York style pizza here in San Diego?
This place Ciros Pizzeria has been around town for a while though it's
all new to me. Goes to show you how much I stick to the basics of
ordering delivered pizza in my area.

So yeah Suzzette picks me up for the homeless shoot and tells me
that Bobbie hooked us up with some pizza at this place. I was like
nice! Bobbie is sitting at one of Ciros sidewalk tables and we're like
waving to Bobbie from across the street haha.

We all walk in and I'm wowed with its interior brick walls and high tech
and clean visible kitchen. I mean they make the pizza right out in the
open for all to see. Love it. Then there's the narrow walkway path that
takes you to the eating area. Little things like this amaze me haha.

The low lighting and the paintings that surround you while chewing
down your pizza is a perfect setting to stuff your face at.

Thank you Bobbie for the pizza! Thank you Suzette for the ride!
&
Thank you to the guy who was cool with letting me take his picture
while he was chowing down!

Oh and the pizza, yeah it was better than all the rest I've ever had

IN MY LIFE!

Well besides the home made ones my cute wifey makes.

LOVE YOU BUBBLES!

I'm taking you there sooon . . .

To Give is a Blessing

Lorena

On April 26th Shelby, Bobbie, Suzette and I went on our 1st homeless people make over. We went to downtown San Diego nervous and uncertain of what we were about to face. We saw Lorena sitting alone on the corner of a street and approached her. Lorena let us into her 'living room' and was all smiles, so were we! We'll be doing more of this again and very soon and as frequent as possible.

If anyone would like to join us next time we do this please email me at david@3zeros.com. Please
include the word 'Homeless' on the subject line. Thank you!

We'll be dedicating as much time as we can in June.

Ashley's Pre Shoot Jitters

Make up by Shrae

Back in March I had a shoot with the luvilly Ashley. She was awesome enough to drive from LA to SD to shoot '
with me. How awesome is that! Before our shoot day we sent a ton of messages back and forth, with ideas etc.

After our shoot I got this from her . . .

"I was hoping there was an earthquake, a tsunami, anything to get me out of going because I was so scared,
but once we hit the hallway I was fine. =D hahahaha! I'll be glad I pushed myself to do it when it's over."

Splish Splash

So we start our shoot here. Well no because we took a few shots at the hotel hallway, down the stairway and
around the pool first. Then when she sat here it was like, the shoot is on now!

She did the coolest thing by splishing and splashing her feet in the pool. I couldn't resist taking these
shots plus she knew that I wanted to incorporate some foot shots in the mix of our shoot. And she
did not disappoint!

A Cute Tease
(Not Trashy)

So a few days ago I get a message from Ashley to edit this pic for her. She's asking me what I think
about the undie shot and I'm like I don't think it looks bad at all. I used to collect pin up calendars
and art and loved it when there was a little teasing going on.

What a sweet shoot that was!

Don't Stop Just Keep Walking

No More Magazines!

Last Sunday while walking to my shoot I saw a row of magazines on the sidewalk. I stopped and went over
to look at some of the magazines and within a minute picked up a Vogue magazine for inspiration then
went on to my shoot.

The thing about this whole magazine ordeal is that in my apt lives a wifey who hates magazines. I have maybe 50 vintage fashion magazines of L.A. Style and she hates them with a passion. I love them of course. If I
bring home a magazine she gets angry and that's why I tittled this one, 'Don't stop just keep walking'

But did I keep walking?

No I stopped like I'm not supposed to do who cares to admire the photography inside a Vogue magazine.
Took the one I was looking at and went on to my shoot. Later on in the day James and I go to a new shoot
location though before we get there we stop to pick up a few of these magazines. As I type there's like
5 issues outside my front door haha. Call me chicken if you want, maybe I am tho the last thing I want
is an argument. I won't stop looking at fashion magazines and I'll stop to look everytime.

A Touch of Glass

Glass Wall

I love this building. I don't know the name of it and I don't know when it was built exactly
though
I believe it was put there in the 1980's.
I believe it's purpose lyes within the medical field.
This
building is a work of art. It stands three stories high and it's a 10 minute walk from my
apartment.

I love this design obviously because of it's bold glass tile which stretches from the
ground to the
roof top.
Although it wouldn't look that dramatic without that square wall with that one window
engraved in it.
The entry doors are all
glass
and curvaceous just like the wall of glass.

Looking UP

As I got closer to this glorious glass wall I began to really appreciate the beauty of the
design and workmanship. Yet I had to wonder how will it fair with an earthquake. This is
one of the reasons why I took these photos for just in case one day it came tumbling down.
Then I thought wait we've had many earthquakes since the 1980s and it's still standing.
On the 4th of April 2010 we had that 7.1 quake and it lasted almost 20 seconds and look

She's still standing!

Standing TALL

This view depicts that curve and it's futuristic design. Sitting right between homes that were
built in the 1940's. A future location for me to shoot at that's for sure!

A Glass of Water

The closer you get to this wall the better it looks. You can tell that there was a lot of thought
put into this design. And who ever it was that designed this amazing work of architectural
art has a lot of style, class and a real appreciation and love for glass wall tiles.

I applaud you who ever you are!
